Róisín O’Gorman: Embodied Movement Awareness: Articulating Structure & Flow across and through disciplines.
This workshop is based in research concerns around engaging movement at all levels of teaching and learning—not just as a means of getting from a to b, but as an overlooked and undervalued epistemology. This work also moves across disciplinary boundaries and allows for rich transdisciplinary concerns to connect individual sensibilities to larger socio-political issues. The workshop offers methods of movement research from two recent projects. I will offer a brief framework of these practices and epistemologies as grounding examples but the workshop will be primarily a movement based exploration.
This workshop introduces participants to the processes of embodiment focusing on our skeletal human structure and the flows of our fluid systems. The workshop will offer a space to find your own range of motion and rhythmical needs. We will also find a space to reflect on our experience and think about ways to integrate it into our teaching philosophy and practices.
Note: Clothing suitable for ease of movement is recommended. Also if you have drawing or writing materials please bring those along. It is open to all movement levels, no previous or specialized training required.
